हमारे ऋषि – मुनियों, महापुरुषों, ग्रन्थों आदि ने मानव योनी को उत्तम माना है | मानव देह वह स्वच्छंद व्योम है जिसमें जीवात्मा किसी भी ऊंचाई तक उड़ान भरने के लिए स्वतंत्र है | यह जीवात्मा के लिए वह सुंदर अवसर है जब वह देवत्व की ओर अग्रसर हो सकता है | इस योनि में ईश्वर ने अनंत संभावनाएं प्रदान की हैं | यह अवसर है अन्धकार से प्रकाश की ओर यात्रा का |

संसार के आकर्षण, मन की चंचलता एवं विषय हमें अन्धकार की ओर खींचते हैं तो दुसरी ओर परमात्मा का आकर्षण, मन की पवित्रता व स्थिरता , साधना , ध्यान , भक्ति हमें प्रकाश का मार्ग दिखाते हैं | महत्वपूर्ण बिंदु यह है कि अन्धकार से प्रकाश की ओर अग्रसर होने की संभावना केवल और केवल मनुष्य देह में ही है | यही कारण है कि इस जीवन के एक एक क्षण को मूल्यवान माना गया है | प्रतिक्षण व्यक्ति इस दोहराहे पर खड़ा होकर स्वयं से जूझता है | एक ओर उसे इन्द्रधनुषी रंगों से सुसज्जित संसार दिखाई देता है तो दूसरी ओर अज्ञात सत्ता, परमात्मा का घूमिल प्रतिबिम्ब दृष्टिगोचर होता है | आश्चर्य का विषय है की जो संसार अत्यंत आकर्षक, अत्यंत मोहक तथा चकाचोंध से पूर्ण प्रतीत होता है, उसके पीछे गहन अन्धकार है तथा परमात्मा का जो मार्ग, जो लोक नीरस, आकर्षणहीन तथा कठिन प्रतीत होता है, उसके पीछे वह दिव्य प्रकाश छिपा है जिसमें विलीन होना मानव का अंतिम गन्तव्य है | अन्धकार से प्रकाश की ओर उन्मुख होकर प्रकाशमय होना ही जीवात्मा का लक्ष्य है |

यही पावन संदेश लेकर प्रतिवर्ष दीवाली का त्यौहार हमारे द्वार खटखटाता है | इस मांगलिक अवसर पर धरा के आंगन में प्रज्ज्वलित अनगिनत दीपों का प्रकाश हमें संकेत देता है मन मंदिर को जगमगाने का तथा उस प्रकाश में सत्य के दर्शन करने का | यह प्रकाश हमेंबोध कराता है --- मानव देह की अमूल्यता का, जाग्रति का तथा जागरूकता का |

जिस प्रकार सूर्योदय हमारी निद्रा कों तोड़कर हमें जागृत कर देता है , कर्म के लिए तत्पर कर देता है , धरा के कण – कण को प्रकाशित कर देता है, उसी प्रकार पवित्रता, शांति, प्रेम, साधना, समर्पण आदि का प्रकाश हमारी जन्म-जन्मान्तरों की सुषुप्ति कों छिन्न - भिन्न कर देता है तथा हमें प्रकाश के स्रोत परमात्मा कि उन्मुख कर देता है |
